  Arthur F. Narr
Arthur F. Narr was born on May 7th, 1925, in Yonkers, New York. He later moved with his family to 501 Milton Road in Rye, New York. His father rented the home for $50.00 a month ($950.00 in today’s money). Arthur lived with his father, who was also named Arthur, his mother Winifred, and with his younger brother Le Rey. Arthur’s father was a carpenter and had a high school education, and his mother had an elementary school education. At the time, Rye was a small town with a population of only 9,865 people. Arthur was an involved member of the community and graduated from Rye High School in 1942.
 While in school, Arthur participated in many clubs and events. He was on both the basketball and the football team, and he belonged to the Driver’s Club, the Ping Pong Club, the G.O council, and the Chippewa club. Arthur was also the Vice President of the Boys Club at the YMCA and the Treasurer of The Four Square Club, which is devoted to spiritual, mental, physical, and social development, at Rye Presbyterian Church.
Arthur bravely served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. His Service number was “8116402.”
Arthur attended Ithaca College and was a member of the prestigious Adelphi Freshman Honorary Society. He was also elected the President of his senior class and was chosen to be included in the annual edition of "Who's Who In American Universities and Colleges" due to his scholarships, participation in college activities, and character. In 1948, he graduated Ithaca College with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and went on to become the director of Physical Education, coaching football and basketball, at Allen-Stevenson School for Boys in New York City. He later developed an extensive career in sales working for Phoenix Home Life Mutual Insurance Company and Upstate Professional Planning Service.
 While in college, Arthur met his wife Yvonne Fixx Narr. They both continued to participate in events at Ithaca College and, in 1985, Arthur was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award, which is the highest honor the alumni association presents. Arthur and Yvonne had four children, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Arthur F. Narr passed away peacefully on January 4th, 2018, at the age of 92.

Arthur F. Narr, beloved husband of Yvonne Fix Narr, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2018. He was 92.
Arthur was born in Yonkers, New York, the son of Arthur and Winifred Narr. He graduated from Rye High School and went on to pursue higher education at Ithaca College, completing a bachelor's degree in physical education (teaching) in 1948. Before finalizing his education, Art proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. After graduating, Arthur spent four years teaching at Allen-Stevenson School for boys where he also coached football and basketball. Art was passionate about people and went on to have an extensive career in sales working for Phoenix Home Life Mutual Insurance Company and Upstate Professional Planning Service. He was an active, long-standing member of DeWitt Community Church.
Arthur's unconditional love and devotion to his wife and family was rivalled only by his dedication to Ithaca College and its community. Art and his wife, Yvonne, met at the college and were married in 1950. Both remained active members of the campus community, attending football games and volunteering for alumni events. Art was an alumni association board member from 1971-2005. Elected to the college's board of trustees in 1976, he became an honorary trustee in 1993. In 1985, he was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award, the highest accolade the alumni association presents.
In addition to his wife of 67 years, Arthur is survived by his children, Jeffrey (Tam) Narr, Stephen (Susan) Narr, Martha (Brendish) Narr-McConnell, Lauren Narr; grandchildren, Patrick (Anna) McConnell, Erin McConnell, James McConnell and Arthur Narr; great-grandsons, Bradley, Hamish and Archie; and numerous nieces and nephews spanning three generations.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 20, 2018 at 11:30am at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E Genesee Street, Fayetteville, NY 13066.
